Google have been coming down hard on directories recentlyand many of them have been penalized in the rankings, this looks to besomething different though as the Dmoz homepage has just been flat outbanned from the search results, check for the Google cache of the Dmozhomepage by clicking on the following link:

There have been a lot of people complaining about the corruption ofDmoz editors for quite some time now and this could be the reason whyGoogle have banned them, check out Jeremy Schoemakers recent post on Dmoz extortion.
All in all I think this is a good thing, it was a nice idea but thedirectory has passed it’s sell by date, many of the categories containbroken links or links to parked domains and new business owners find itpractically impossible to get listed most of the time because of thecorruption.
